Using dreams in writing

DREAMS often hold numerous symbols which speak about your state of mind and life situation.

Although I don't like AI, there's a smart way to use it regarding dreams: you can write them down in chat gpt, asking it to deeply analyze it, and use it in your mental health journey.

To construct a dream in a smart way, just use the GPT analysis, but backwards (write down symbols you want to be included to generate a possible dream scenario).

HOW CAN WE USE DREAMS IN WRITING?

1. To make the character realize something - put two and two together thanks to dreaming about it. Dreams can give different perspectives or propose unconventional roads to achieving the goal.

2. To show character's biggest current stresor. If there's something insignificant and stressful happening in character's life, it only makes sense to appear in their dream. It can haunt them, turning into a nightmare.

3. To point out character's trauma. Trauma dreams are very common in trauma survivors. It can be a memory or a scenario based on the trauma. It should be unpleasant, and the character may not feel their best after waking up from such a dream.

4. To secretly pass on a message. Everything that happens in a dream can be psychoanalyzed; there are thousands of symbols for everything. As you're writing a dream, you can secretly implement some symbols in it as in foreshadowing.

5. To show what the character wishes for. If there's something they crave, it can reappear in the dream; it can be motivating, or distressing, depending on how you construct it.

6. To show character's health issues. For example the character can couch a lot during the night, scream through sleep or wake up randomly just to fall asleep again.

7. You can also play with other things connected to dreaming, like lucid dreaming, sleep paralysis or sleep disorders (for example insomnia - click to read more about it).
