This post will focus on the details of writing. It will include accessories, symbolism and colours for both characters and scenery.
I'm more of a visiual type, so it's not hard for me to imagine a character, the room, the landscape, buldling etc. So, I'm here to offer you sme help~.
Some tools you can use for inspo are pinterst, instagram and google images of course. Also, when you do use images for inspiration... make sure to be crative and use your imagination.
Accessories
One imporatnt note . these need to add to the scene, character and not be respce for design in general. Accessoires are things which can be added to something or someone else in order to make it more useful, versatile or attractive.
Some examples can be - a watch, necklace, ribbon, jewlery, hats, rings, corwns, perfume, scarf, brooch and many others.
Writing has the benefit of describing how each accessories feels, what kind of texture it has, is it warm or cold, does it make character comfortable or not. It's also lovely to add if said accessory has any signiricance to the character, to the plot etc.
You can also explain why the characters has or wears the speicifc accessory. This depends on what kind of story you wish to tell, you can simply put accessories on the characters simly because it looks aesthtically pleasing.
Symbolism
Symbolism can be used to express a broader meaning or idea not explicity stated in a text. It can add depth and make the story more intersting to read. it can encourage readers to figure out the meaning by themselves. It can be used for both design, aeshttiec, but also for a deepr meaning within the story.
Animals, colours, items, tress, flowers - everything can be used as symbolism. Espeically when it comes to character apperinace and details in your stoiry.
Some examples of this can be:
Red rose - often used to symbolise love and romance
Broken mirror - it's used to represent bad luck or separation.
An owl - symbolises wisdom.
A chain - can symbolise someone feeling imprisoned, locked up or it can represent a union.
A butterfly - meaning transformation.
A snake - it could represent slyness, deceit, rebirth, transformation, healing, and fertility.
When it comes to your story and characters, feel free to play with symbols and experiment. Each symbol can mean something in your culture and in another culture and country mean something completly different. Please be mindful and respectful of this, make sure you explain where your inspiration and symblism came from, what its origins are.
Use of colour
Feel free to research and use colours in your writing. Studying colour theory can help you describe and visualise the colours in the scene, for characters' appearance and similar purposes. You can learn what each colour symbolises in both a negative and positive sense.
There are 18 decillion varieties of each colour, according to scientists. Yes, declillion with 33 zeroes. So, give yourself a blast. Keep in mind, only 3 million of these colours are named - so those are the main ones you can work with.
